Swift Current Shines!
As Harry’s airplane prepares to leave Swift Current for Calgary, we are humbled and grateful for the enthusiasm, energy and kindness of the people in Southern Saskatchewan. We conducted 8 sponsorship rides and the SouthWest flying club ran a fly-in breakfast and donated ALL the proceeds to Vintage Wings. We managed to spread the word about the history of the BCATP at Swift Current airport and tell Harry Hannah’s story. At one point, a lady in the crowd shed tears when she heard about his time spent as a prisoner of war. Mike Campbell a Vintage Wings supporter, brought out a copy of Mr. Paton’s logbook, a local RCAF veteran. It really hit home to see a summary of his flying times. 65 hours in the Cornell, 167 hours on the Crane then off to fly combat in Wellingtons and Lancasters. We owe them so much… We even managed to have two wedding photo shoots with the airplane
Thank you Saskatchewan !!!!
